About Sharon Esdale, Lic. Ac

There’s nothing more fascinating to me than people and the invisible forces of the universe. These interests have led to a varied and dynamic path resulting in the creation of Zusanli Acupuncture. They are at the root of my passion for healing work.

I obtained my bachelor’s degree in psychology with a minor in art from the University of Vermont. My journey to healing work began at the San Francisco School of Massage where I trained in various massage modalities. I fed my deepening interest in the body by training in Chi Nei Tsang, an ancient Taoist system for detoxifying and rejuvenating the internal organs. I became certified as a Level 3 Chi Nei Tsang Practitioner/Instructor at the Chi Nei Tsang Institute in Berkeley.

In 2008, I completed my master’s degree in acupuncture and herbology at the Academy of Chinese Culture and Health Sciences in Oakland. I followed my passion for women’s health and trained in Chinese medicine gynecology, obstetrics, and fertility. I received doula training from Ina May Gaskin at The Farm in Tennessee. I further my knowledge by attending classes in subjects like pediatrics, chronic and acute pain, digestive issues, oncology acupuncture, insomnia, dementia, and scar therapy.

In 2009, I moved back to New England and opened Zusanli Acupuncture. My practice is named after one of my favorite acupuncture points. Zusanli (Stomach 36) is essential for digestive health. It is one of the most integral acupuncture points to strengthen vitality. Zusanli translates as “Walk Three Miles.” There is an old story that practitioners would stimulate this point, either through acupuncture or simple massage, to gain the strength to walk another three miles. I love using Zusanli because everyone can benefit from enhanced vitality and digestive support.

Sharon Esdale - Headshot

I offer a holistic and integrated approach to treating people. I familiarize myself with my patients’ goals for health and I adapt my treatment methods to achieve results. My style is grounded in the belief that our bodies have an innate wisdom to heal. I hold space for patients to heal so they can feel more joy and openness in their bodies. I listen with my ears and my hands to shift patterns. Sessions promote health, build resilience, and create lasting change.

“Sharon is an incredibly skilled healer and getting to work with her was truly transformative for me. As a patient, Sharon makes you feel supported and heard and you know that she approaches each session with care and concern. She is also just really great to be around, which I think is super important! She helped me during a difficult recovery and I know I couldn’t have made it through without her.” – H.H., Marketing Communications Project Manager and Blogger
